FAQs

Question

What should we wear?

Answer

Everything is casual! No dress requirements other than pack some warm tops/jackets. The weather in Newport this time of year can vary. We're hoping for the warm and sunny days but be prepared for the chilly and damp ones too!

Question

Anything else we should bring?

Answer

Cash for booze. The prices for events ended up being higher than we had hoped and in an attempt to not make them even higher, we omitted the open bar options knowing that not everyone would drink the amounts we'd be charged. Alcohol is included on the boat tour but there will be a CASH BAR at all other events. In most cases (if not all) this means real cash...unlikely to be able to take credit cards. Sorry for the hassle!

Question

Where do we park? How do we get around?

Answer

There is parking available at the hotel. Once you arrive, you shouldn't need your car again! Dinner the first night is at the hotel and boat/dinner on Friday is a 4 minute walk away. The farthest we'll go is Saturday's clambake which is 3 miles away. The venue also has parking but i'd suggest Uber so everyone can drink up :) There are dozens of restaurants and bars within walking distance for other self-organized activities. We're in the heart of Newport!

Question

There are so many mansion tours....which one should we do?!

Answer

All of the tours are a great way to escape and see how the elite used to summer! The most popular ones are The Breakers and Marble House. Rosecliff is also a favorite—as the scene for many Hollywood movies…The Great Gatsby & True Lies are just some of the movies filmed there! If you are looking for a behind the scenes tour—take the Servant life tour at the Elms…really cool and interesting to see how the staff worked and lived
