Things To Do

There is no shortage of things to do in this town, especially when on State Street, in the Funk Zone, or at the beach. But if you are looking for some inspiration, here are a few of our favorite places around Santa Barbara.

The Lark Santa Barbara

131 Anacapa Street, Santa Barbara, CA 93101

One of our favorite spots for dinner with high end food right in the middle of the Funk Zone. You will likely need a reservation but can try walking into the bar.

Loquita Santa Barbara

202 State Street, Santa Barbara, CA 93101

Farm–fresh Spanish tapas & craft cocktails are served at this busy haunt with a cozy vibe & a patio.

Santo Mezcal

119 State Street, Santa Barbara, CA 93101

Lively Mexican spot offering a seafood-centric menu with a modern twist & really good cocktails.

Arigato Sushi

1225 State Street, Santa Barbara, CA 93101

Innovative sushi, nigiri & sake served in a lively brick-walled space with featured local art.

Brophy Bros. Seafood

119 Harbor Way, Santa Barbara, CA 93109

Local seafood, a clam bar & signature Bloody Marys in a bustling, casual harborside space.

Gala Restaurant

705 Anacapa Street, Santa Barbara, CA 93101

Small plates ranging from fried green tomatoes to crudo, plus cocktails, wine, and local beer.

Flor De Maiz

29 East Cabrillo Boulevard, Santa Barbara, CA 93101

Classic Mexican dishes in a laid-back restaurant offering cocktails & alfresco dining.

Third Window Brewing Santa Barbara

406 East Haley Street, Santa Barbara, CA 93101

Great spot for lunch. Fun brewery with great burgers and a wine window. We saw Greg from "Succession" here once. He was very tall.

Topa Topa Brewing Co.

120 Santa Barbara Street, Santa Barbara, CA 93101

Fun brewery with a large outdoor patio. Has good options for food and wine as well.

Lama Dog Tap Room + Bottle Shop

116 Santa Barbara Street, Santa Barbara, CA 93101

Cool taproom offering changing taps of craft brews & wines in hip surroundings with outdoor seating.

The Good Lion

1212 State Street, Santa Barbara, CA 93101

Cozy cocktail bar. Madeline was over served here.

Frequency Wine Company

804 Anacapa Street, Santa Barbara, CA 93101

Great outdoor patio for some cheeky day time wine. Tasting flights and full glasses available!

CAJÉ Coffee Roasters

416 East Haley Street, Santa Barbara, CA 93101

Nice coffee shop to start your morning

ALESSIA Patisserie and Cafe

134 East Canon Perdido Street, Santa Barbara, CA 93101

Best pastries in town according to Chip Zucker. Great coffee shop next door as well.

1000 Steps Beach

1429 Shoreline Drive, Santa Barbara, CA 93109

Really pretty beach that backs up to the cliff. Great for walks or for lounging during the day. This is a fairly rocky beach and (as the name suggests) there are a lot of stairs to get down there so plan accordingly. But the views are fantastic.

West Beach

Santa Barbara, CA 93109

The most accessible beach closest to where most of you will be staying. It overlooks the wharf and is a great place to lay out.

South Coast Deli-Carrillo

10 East Carrillo Street, Santa Barbara, CA 93101

Jack's favorite sandwich spot

Lilly's Taqueria

310 Chapala Street, Santa Barbara, CA 93101

Good authentic tacos for a quick lunch

Sandpiper Golf Club

If you are looking to play some golf while you are in town this is the spot. Iconic course right on the ocean. Jack shot a 77 here once.

Mollusk Surf Shop

208 Gray Avenue, Santa Barbara, CA 93101

Super vibey shop with everything from kid's clothes to surf boards to skin care.

Channel Islands Surfboards Flagship Store Santa Barbara

36 Anacapa Street, Santa Barbara, CA 93101

Fun local surf shop, they carry clothing, sunglasses, boards and more!

McConnell's Fine Ice Creams

120 State Street, Santa Barbara, CA 93101

Their flagship store, this is Jack's (and newly Ralph Jr.'s) favorite spot for ice cream. Founded in Santa Barbara over 75 years ago, they have a great selection of elevated classics. Time Magazine named it "best ice cream in the world".

Wine Country

This area of Santa Ynez and surrounding towns is close to our hearts, we celebrate our anniversary here every year! Just 40 minutes out from Santa Barbara, it has so many wineries and restaurants. We suggest having a DD (Ubers can be tough to find due to lack of service up there). -Roblar Winery: Unbelievable food, excellent wine. We almost got married here! -Melville Winery: Very serene, great wine. Their Pinot is our fave! -Babcock Wines: Next to Melville. The real draw here is the massive outdoor area with a ton of games, and the awesome vintage store on property. -SY Kitchen: Another favorite of ours for lunch or dinner! -Panino: Insanely delicious sandwiches -Bar Le Cote: Amazing food for lunch or dinner- try to get a reservation if you can (they don't have a bar). -Storm tasting room: Located in downtown Los Olivos, this entire area is fun to bop around in if you are looking for good wines/food but don't need a winery experience.

For all the days along the way
