Drew & Kat met initially via Match.com and that didn’t get very far. Kat had a knack for blowing dates off typically. It wasn’t until they coincidentally started working together did they really get to know each other. Drew was job hunting and applied to HFF not knowing Kat worked there, and quite frankly had forgotten who she was! Although he wanted to decline out of spite, he loved the company and accepted the job. Later Kat texted Drew, welcomed him to the team, joked about the blow off, and they never spoke of Match again. After about 8 months, Kat and Drew closed one night and she invited him out for a drink at Turf Club. Esteban & Jenna came in unexpectedly and invited us to join for dinner. We had a blast. Esteban told Drew the next day “Funny thing, my wife thought you and Kat would be the best couple!” The chemistry was there and they were both a little freaked out. Drew would check his phone constantly to see if she texted or called. He kept asking to see her again, outside of work. She was very hesitant but would eventually say yes and said they would grab a drink after work. Drew was excited; work never took so long! He got home, showered, trimmed his beard and put on that special cologne that had dust on it. Kat said she “fell asleep” and wasn't coming out. It didn’t come out until weeks later that she was nervous, blew him off again and went out with friends. Drew, disappointed, went out with friends himself. She asked if they could do brunch the next day. They met at Crushed and had a very awkward first 20 minutes. After mimosas, things got a little easier, the conversation got a little better and before you know it, Kat and Drew were asking each other your typical “Match date” questions. They continued their day from sunshine to sundown. It was this day, that led to the beginning of it all.

We were home for the holidays to meet both sets of families. We had talked about marriage and kids and all that fun stuff but never in a million years did I think he would do it in front of my parents and so soon! Schedule of events: Day 1- Kat flies home (to Mass) Day 2- Drew arrives in Massachusetts Day 2 Continued - Holiday party with a lot of family in town! Santa shows up, we drink whiskey and tequila and wine, eat mom's delicious food, and play card games. There was some Wagon Wheel Karaoke going on also.... it happens. Day 3- Kat, Drew & Kat's parents hang out for the night and get to know each other. Drew throws out some "hey I wanna marry your daughter" stuff.... and yeah, sure - that's cute. Day 4- Morning time, we are all very relaxed, happy to be home. Drew decides to make breakfast for everyone while mom and I relax and chat. This was our last day in Mass and were flying to Chicago the following day. It was way too quick! This is when Drew decides to share that he wasn't kidding with Dad and wanted to ask me today... (They can fill you in on that part of the convo!) He was acting funny all morning. I woke up to him gazing at me intently, and caught it repeatedly throughout the morning... I just chalked it up to meeting the family and happy to be on a mini vacation. Drew serves us all breakfast, it's delicious. He clears the plates; I had barely seen him all morning. Mom is across from me, Dad is to my left and Drew sits down next to me on my right.... acting strange again and staring at me. He says, "you know I love you right" and then speaks a little. I can barely make out what he is saying. He then stops talking and just throws his arms out with a ring in it, and stares at me. To which of course I nervously reply "are you F - ing crazy?!" Of course I say YES! And the rest is history. Thanks for sharing our special day with us!!
