Our Great Perhaps:

A storybook proposal

Jeremy and Hannah's story includes many of their favorite chapters, but the story of their proposal is one they love the most. Let's set the scene: Hannah and Jeremy are deeply in love, but are separated by about 400 miles - Jacksonville to Atlanta is a heck of a drive. While on a weekend trip to Savannah, a trip they quickly decided would be a yearly tradition, Jeremy had a beautiful idea. He began collecting cards from each of their adventures together, and once the distance had separated them once again, he began writing. One card got sent after each visit and another got added to what Jeremy began calling the “us capsule”. Each card recapped their adventures and the meaningful moments of their love story. The very first letter Jeremy wrote, the day they got back from Savannah, was the card he used when he proposed. Those who know Hannah know that she loves to read, and those who know Jeremy know he is severely dyslexic. Hannah helped share her love of reading with Jeremy by introducing him to the dyslexic font on the kindle. Just like that, he went from reading two books a year, to twenty-two. With the full world of literature opened up to him, he read Hannah’s favorite book, Looking for Alaska by John Green. In the book, the main character, Miles, is obsessed with last words. Some of his favorites are those of François Rabelais: “I go to seek a great perhaps”. On that trip to Savannah, Jeremy told Hannah she was his “great perhaps”. Flash forward a year, and the “us capsule” now had 14 cards in it, all snapshots of their love story up to that point. Jeremy had the “how” of how to propose, but where? A bookstore of course! Any old bookstore wouldn’t do, so he chose one of their favorites in Jacksonville, San Marco Books and More. Jeremy mapped it all out and worked with the bookstore, and on February 6th, 2026, they had their storybook proposal. Jeremy had the bookstore make a display with a copy of Looking for Alaska with the first card of the “us capsule” inside it. The display held sign that said “for Hannah, my great perhaps” Once they were in the store, Hannah was enthralled in all the books, and originally missed the display. Once she circled back, Jeremy got down on one knee and came seeking his great perhaps, her hand in marriage. She said yes, of course, and now their next chapter together begins!
