Great food, local vendors, books, records, art, pottery classes...all in a rehabbed old Mill building! Their words: Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment is the largest privately-owned arts facility in the United States. With a focus on visual arts, this historic textile mill has been redeveloped into 153 working studios for over 300 artists and makers, 7 galleries, a theatre, community garden, and performance venues. Lowe Mill A&E artists not only shape the Mill collective, but also spread their impact beyond our walls by contributing to the local workforce and economy. The Mill fosters a sense of belonging for everyone, from established artists, to emerging creatives, and everyone in between. With makers, indie business, and even culinary artists, no two working studios are the same. Whether it be an artist creating work for galleries, museums, and art festivals, or even a retired NASA engineer learning pottery, we are here to support all creatives!
Part of the entertainment district with Lowe Mill and Stovehouse (purple cups may travel). Was an actual school and lockers and structures remain. Find the speak easy behind lockers outside Straight to Ale, tour the brewery behind that, get a tattoo, throw axes, learn ballroom dancing or cross the courtyard for video games or virtual golf and more food and breweries.
Just one of the cool places to eat at Lowe Mill, because...dragon stuff (I'm looking at you, Logan & Billy). From the site: We are a fully immersive fantasy-themed cafe. We create unique flavored lattes and unique food based on Jennies family's recipes, which are inspired by southern and Czech cuisine. "Our goal is to create a unique cafe experience. Our cafe is styled like a fantasy tavern, with plenty of room for community gatherings, gaming nights, and sometimes even live music events! "
Part of the entertainment district with Campus 805 and Lowe Mill (purple cups will travel). You must request purple cup from the establishments to take your drink with you. Some have signs that no purple cups are allowed. Stovehouse has a ton of food and drink (non-alcoholic as well) options and shops. It is primarily outdoor storefronts, so bundle up if it's cold for exploring between them.
As everyone knows because I talk WAY too much about it, I love this place! This is where we got engaged and where I leave parts of my hamstrings behind a couple of times a week. The state park is $5 per head, but you can also park at the Monte Sano South trailhead (google maps) and enter for free on multiple trails (highly recommend high trail). But hey...it's always great to support the state parks and these guys do a STELLAR job, so why not go to the top of the mountain and enjoy the amazing views, Japanese garden and all the trails you can hike! They also have ample campgrounds and cabins for rent, if you're into that sort of thing.
Of COURSE the Garden! This is where the ceremony will be, but there's an entire garden to explore and wedding guests have free entry all day the day of the ceremony. During October it will be all decorated up for fall with a trail of scarecrows and (hopefully) the halloween lights at sunset! We hope you can take a little time to enjoy it!
