FAQs

Below are the answers to some questions you might have about the big day.
Question

Will your wedding be indoors or outdoors?

Answer

The ceremony and cocktail hour will be fully outdoors and right next to a lake. We advise checking the weather as the event approaches as you may want to bring a shawl or wrap, depending on the weather. The reception will be under a covered pavilion with heaters available for use, if needed.

Question

What's the dress code for your wedding?

Answer

The dress code is formal attire. We would prefer men to wear a suit and tie. We would prefer women to be in a long/maxi dress, but a midi dress would also be appropriate. We encourage you to consider wearing rich, warm and dark fall colors, though it is not required by any means.

Question

Am I allowed to bring a plus-one? Or my children?

Answer

The name of every guest invited to attend is clearly listed on your invitation and no additional guests can be accommodated.

Question

Will there be transportation provided?

Answer

We will be providing transportation for guests choosing to stay at one of the three hotels listed on our website that we have room blocks at. The shuttle will pick guests up from their respective hotels and take them to the venue for the ceremony. The shuttle will also be providing transportation back to the hotels following the reception. More details will be available closer to the event. Uber/Lyft services are also available in the area.

Question

Is there parking available?

Answer

Yes. If you decide not to utilize the transportation provided, there will be free parking available at the venue. The parking lot is directly in front of the venue. But be sure you are going to the correct address (Bay Pointe Inn), there is another venue (Bay Pointe Woods) directly across the street with a different parking lot.

Question

What's the best airport to use?

Answer

While we assume most guests will drive, we know that some of our guests will be flying in for our wedding. The closest major airport to our venue is the Gerald R. Ford International Airport in Grand Rapids, which is about 35-40 minutes from our venue. The Kalamazoo/Battle Creek International Airport in Kalamazoo is also about 40 minutes from our venue.

Question

Can I bring my boat?

Answer

Yes! If you own a boat and would like to bring it up for the wedding weekend, there is a public boat launch located at 2397 Patterson Road, Wayland, MI 49348. You can dock your boat at our wedding venue for an overnight fee of $25. There are also several companies in the area that you can rent a boat from, such as Matteson Marine Inc.
