House Or Rental
If looking to get an airbnb or VRBO for the weekend, we would suggest searching in following towns: - Stony Brook, Port Jefferson or Saint James (closer to the Hilton Garden Inn Stony Brook hotel and welcome drinks) - Northport (close to the wedding venue)
Train
Calling all friends and family traveling from NJ, NYC or Long Island - hop on the Long Island Railroad to Stony Brook. You can download the MTA TrainTime app to look at train schedules and to buy tickets. Note: seeing as we are getting married mid-summer, expect trains to be more crowded than usual!
Flight
MacArthur Airport is a smaller airport, but the closest to us being just a 30 minute drive! MacArthur has limited flights but offers a few nonstop flights: Ft. Lauderdale, Orlando and Palm Beach (JetBlue) or Palm Beach, Tampa, Orlando and Baltimore/Washington (SouthWest) JFK Airport and LaGuardia Airport will have more flight options and is an hour drive to the hotel via car rentals or Uber (or LIRR if you really wanted to go full on Planes, Trains and Automobiles) Note: be wary of summer traffic during rush hour times!
Travel Note
If traveling from north of Long Island (we're talking to you, our CT, VT and Mass friends!), it might make sense to take the drive your car onboard the ferry from Bridgeport to Port Jefferson. We have done this so many times and it is a great option. Why sit in traffic when you can sit outside and take in the views for an hour? Reserve your tickets ahead of time - $76 one way + $23 for each additional passenger outside of the driver
