Who would have thought a hot August day in the Bus Parking lot of Citi Field would go on to be one of the most serendipitous moments in their lives? It was August 21st, 2015 in Queens, New York, joined by thousands of Country Music fans, Barbara and Steve were getting prepared for a summer concert headlined by none other than Zac Brown Band. By shear happenstance, the future Mr. & Mrs. Plochochi stumbled upon the same tailgate organized by mutual friends. Upon arriving to the tailgate, it was not long before Barbara, the beautiful, energetic girl with a contagious smile, caught Steve’s attention. Steve immediately made his way over to the folding table where the pre-game festivities were being held, in hopes to strike up a conversation. It was over an elegant game of flip cup where Barbara would introduce herself to her future husband. After a little over an hour of shared laughs and Steve’s “subtle” attempts at flirting, Barbara headed off into the concert unbeknownst to Steve. Once Steve realized Barbara had left, the regret of not getting her phone number began to set in. But instead of simply asking one of the mutual friends at the party for her phone number; Steve made the completely rational move of chasing her down while she attempted to enter the concert. After a slightly awkward moment where Barbara’s brother TJ was mistaken for a potential suitor, the numbers were exchanged. Even after a memorable meeting, life sometimes takes people in different directions. It would be 2 full years before Steve and Barbara’s paths would virtually cross again. With some help of an Instagram algorithm, Steve would get the chance to try and catch lightening twice in the form of a follow request. After a few weeks of chatting and planning their first official date on a frigid December night in Astoria, from there, as they say, was history.
