New Year's Eve in 2018: bridesmaid and one of Elizabeth's best friends from Saint Anselm, Holly Foster, coerced Elizabeth to celebrate her least favorite holiday at her friend James Peters' house party. James kept a spotless home with his roommate, Dan's best friend and groomsman, Joe Tebano. Elizabeth was living in the city at the time, and may have made a comment regarding Joe's ugly Christmas sweater at a different party the weekend before. A key detail for later on. That evening, the girls left Holly's for yet another riveting night in South Boston. Thanks to the close knit (or cult-like) bond between these Saint A's alumni, Dan and Elizabeth would meet for the first time that evening despite having both attended the high school-sized, Catholic institution. How serendipitious. Dan, who had definitely not been drinking at a local watering hole since 11 am, happened to be standing next to Joe when Elizabeth approached to give a mature and unneccesary apology for her quip from the prior weekend. Something against Joe's better judgement forgave Elizabeth, and he introduced his dear friend Dan to her. The pair does not remember much from that moment on from that night. There was an immediate feeling of comfort and ease that could not only be attributed to multiple games of flip cup. After inviting himself to New Year's Day brunch, Dan found himself reaching out to Elizabeth whenever he was in the city. The two spent the next six months dating. Elizabeth moved back to Nantucket that summer, a place she always knew she would call home. Shortly after, she was offered her dream job, teaching at the elementary school. Dan, being his selfless self, followed along so the two could build a life together. Fast forward three and a half years later to new jobs, a home of their own, and dog named Phoebe. Dan locked it in for good by proposing on Martha's Vineyard. Elizabeth said yes to the person who helped all of her dreams come true.
