It was the 4th of July and Lewis had driven down to Atlanta to visit his friend (and Best Man) Jabre for the holiday weekend. They attended a kickback hosted by a fellow Georgia Southern school mate where Brittanie was also in attendance. Jabre and Brittanie were good friends, having previously met during undergrad on road trips to various Fraternity/Sorority events. After greeting Brittanie, Jabre introduced her to Lewis. They kept is cool and gave the typical "nice to meet yous". Lewis eventually made his way to where Brittanie was seated and struck up a conversation. Both are unsure of how long the conversation went on; Lewis is quite the talker, lol. Later in the evening, Brittanie was leaving with a group of friends who were going down the street to watch fireworks at Turner Field. Unsure if he'd still be there when she returned, Lewis asked for her number. After he returned to Winston Salem, they would talk often. Until...
"She ghosted me. We were talking all the time and then all of a sudden I didn't hear from her for like a month. I thought to myself 'oh well, maybe she found another person to talk to in Atlanta', and chopped it up as a loss. Then I got this random text from her in late October. She was asking if I'd be back in Atlanta for the Georgia Southern/Georgia State game, and it just so happened I was. We met up after the game to get some food. The next day we went on a real date to the movies and bowling. The rest as they say is history" -as told by Lewis "I did not ghost him. I was just busy, like, forreal. I had two weddings that September - one of which I was in, so life came at me fast in late August. I figured he would know I was still feeling him when I took the time to track him down on facebook to get his number after I broke my phone. In mid October, I found out GSU vs GSU was in Atlanta, so I text him on a whim to see if he was in town and wanted to link. I beat him in bowling, and we saw a horrible movie, but we've been linked ever since." - as told by Brittanie
It was a COLD day in January. Brittanie had previously mentioned that she wanted to go to the Chinese Lantern Festival in Raleigh, so Lewis made plans for them to attend. They bundled up and set out in to the night to look at 1000s of lights and glowing fixtures centered on Chinese culture. They walked together through the festival, and he eventually led her under a glowing tunnel. Brittanie was too busy taking videos and pictures to see that Lewis' sister, her family, and a close friend had gathered around behind her. When she turned, he was on his knee asking her to make him the happiest man alive. She said "Yes!".
