PostBoy

PostBoy

207 North Whittaker Street, New Buffalo, MI 49117

On October 16th, 1834, Captain Whittaker set sail from Buffalo, NY, to Chicago aboard a schooner named Post Boy. Before Captain Whittaker took command, this ship served as one of the USPS mail ships, commonly known as "Post Boys," that traversed the Great Lakes. As Captain Whittaker neared Chicago, a sudden and violent storm forced him to steer east, causing the Post Boy to wreck on the beach just south of where our restaurant stands today. Struck by the beauty of the area, captain and crew spent the winter here and ultimately decided to sell their business in Buffalo, NY, and settle in this new land, naming it New Buffalo. Today, our restaurant, PostBoy, sits in the heart of downtown New Buffalo on Whittaker Street, a tribute to the rich history and adventurous spirit of Captain Whittaker and his crew. Here’s to smooth sailing and great adventures ahead! Friday Hours: 5pm - 10pm EST Saturday Hours: 12pm - 10pm EST Sunday Hours: 12pm - 9pm EST
