We’re getting married in an abandoned palace, so have fun with it! We encourage everyone to bring their best. Think formal attire with a European flair. "Black tie or No tie". This means either a Tuxedo if you feel like getting fancy, or a Suit with no tie at all for a laid back Euro-vibe. Outdo the Bride! Think bright colors, funky silhouettes, statement accessories, and bold textures, patterns, or prints. Bring a light shawl/jacket, temperatures can reach 60 degrees at night.
Welcome Party: Dressy-Casual Dress to impress for a night out in Lisbon. For men: slacks and a nice shirt (jackets/ties/sports coats are optional). For the ladies, a dress, skirt, or pantsuit. Flats, wedges, and block heels are highly recommended over stilettos due to the cobblestone streets and hills in Lisbon.
Although the wedding venue is in the small town of Loures, we highly recommend staying in Lisbon as there is much more to see and do. The bride and groom will be staying in Lisbon along with the wedding party. Airbnbs are very easy to find, and hotel discount codes will be provided. Check the "Where To Stay" page for neighborhood recommendations.
If you only want to stay in the Lisbon area: check out Sintra and Cascais. If you love the beach or golf: check out the beautiful cliffside towns and world-renowned golf courses in the Algarve region. If you love wine: check out the city of Porto and take a wine tour along the Douro Valley OR visit the beautiful Alentejo region in the south of Portugal. Take a look at the 'Our Favorite Places in Portugal' tab for more in-depth recommendations.
We do not recommend renting a car while you are staying within Lisbon. The central / downtown area is very walkable, and Uber/taxi is readily available and very affordable. Thank being said, renting a car in Portugal is easy, and allows you to explore much more of the country than you would get to see without one. If you plan to travel around the country, this is the best way to reach places like Porto or Lagos.
YES! This is a friendly reminder to check your passport expiration date :)
