Happily Ever After

Serendipity, Bo'Rounds & Sweet Tea

They say love finds you when you least expect it, and for Morgan and Baleigh, that couldn’t have been more true. Morgan and Baleigh met on night shift in June 2022. Between long nights and caffeine, Morgan noticed something magnetic about Baleigh; confident, slightly intimidating, but impossible to stay away from. There was something about her that made Morgan want to know more, even if it scared her and made her heart race like she was 16 again. Baleigh made the first move, and the second, and maybe the tenth. Morgan was a little scared of happiness. If there is one thing Baleigh is, it's persistent — and that persistence paid off. After months of gentle attempts and Morgan's dramatic refusals, she finally agreed to one date… the start of everything. Their first date wasn’t fancy. It was Bojangles in Dublin, VA, after a long night shift. They drove separate cars, parked in the back under the dim glow of the parking lot lights like teenagers with a secret, and shared Cajun chicken biscuits, Bo’Rounds, and sweet tea. Unsure how the world would view a same-sex love, they kept it hidden, leaving work at different times, like a garden growing quietly in the dark. Before romance fully bloomed, Morgan and Baleigh were best friends. Night shift bonding included laughter, inside jokes, and small gestures like splitting a Little Caesars pizza even though Morgan didn’t love it; somehow, it tasted better knowing it was Baleigh’s favorite. Every late-night chat, stolen look, and slice of pizza slowly built something real. In November 2022, Morgan’s world shifted when her mom unexpectedly passed away. Baleigh showed up not just for comfort, but to hold Morgan together and redefined everything she knew about love. That’s when Morgan realized it didn’t matter whose love it was, only that it was real. Their first “I love you” happened behind their work building, where the lights didn’t reach. Baleigh came to pick Morgan up during lunch, and they drove around, probably went to a Sheetz or Taco Bell, still hiding from the world. With a sweet tea in hand, Morgan got out, looked at Baleigh, and the words simply fell out: “I love you.” It was the easiest thing she’d ever said, like she’d been waiting forever. In February 2023, they moved into a two-bedroom apartment. Between whose turn it was for dishes and learning to adult, one thing remained constant: their love. They captured their life together in photos, from Target aisles to Pride Month celebrations to anniversaries, every session a snapshot of their growing life. Then came April 5th, 2025. After a photography session at the fair, they posed under the cherry blossom trees in Blacksburg. Morgan thought it was just another day until Baleigh wrapped her arms around her for a pose… then let go. Morgan turned, and there she was, on one knee, holding the halo cushion-cut ring of her dreams. Time stood still. Baleigh had asked Morgan’s dad for his blessing and presented the ring to her mom and sister at their gravesites. More than ten friends, from near and far, ran out to witness the most magical “yes” of Morgan’s life. Morgan couldn’t stop slipping “as a fiancée” into every sentence for days.Their love is a mix of contrasts: Morgan plans, Baleigh goes with the flow; Morgan steals the covers, Baleigh thrives with a box fan; Morgan needs nail appointments, Baleigh gets ready in five minutes. Despite differences, they balance each other perfectly, bringing laughter, joy, and playful chaos every day. In a relationship like theirs, you learn who your people are. With loved ones ready to witness their big day, Morgan and Baleigh cannot wait for the start of forever. Sometimes, the best things happen when you stop saying no and finally let love in. As they would tell you, this is serendipity — finding something beautiful, unexpected, and life-changing when you least expect it. If that isn’t exactly what happened under the glow of a parking lot light with Bo’Rounds in hand, then they don’t know what is.
