Michael and Amanda’s paths first crossed while enrolled at Marian University in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. Michael and Amanda had a lot in common from the get-go, both being goalies for their respective hockey teams at Marian. Michael and Amanda attended many of the same events around the rink and school, often crossed paths, but never actually met! The two officially met when Michael attended a party in September 2014 at Amanda’s house with her good friend Warren Carter. Michael and Amanda's first date was, your classic, dinner and a movie. Michael made his go-to "frozen chicken alfredo" (yes, one of those meals you take from the freezer to cook on the pan). He made plenty of jokes while attempting to cook the frozen rock of food that had Amanda smiling ear to ear. This is when Amanda realized she may have found someone as chill and laid-back as her, who enjoys to laugh and have fun. Following, they ate upstairs with Michael's roommate, Jacob Ryd. The two went to see Gone Girl, which was a fantastic movie! The date concluded with ice cream... obviously. After going on dates and hanging out on weekends with mutual friends throughout fall, Michael asked Amanda to be his girlfriend December of 2014. Since then, the two have made it work despite distance or circumstance. No matter what they are faced with, they always find their way through. Michael proposed to Amanda on Christmas Eve 2018 in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario at her favorite hill. Amanda grew up playing soccer at Garson's Hill from primary school to high school, and spent many snow days sledding down the big hill with friends. She's always loved the view from there! After saying NO WAY out of surprise, she quickly corrected herself by saying YES!! The two will seal-the-deal on November 7th, 2020, after being together for 6 years!
