Sarah and Jacob met at church. They started getting to know one another in group settings, leadership trainings, and through mutual friends. Jacob began liking Sarah in January 2025, but he prayerfully waited for the right timing. Sarah’s crush on Jacob started in April, but she was trying (and failing) to keep her interest hidden while wondering if Jacob even noticed her. Meanwhile, Jacob was thinking, “If she says yes to a date with me, I’m going to marry her.” They went on a ministry trip with a group in May 2025. During a walk on Father’s Day to debrief the trip, Jacob asked Sarah if she wanted to go on a date. Sarah prayerfully responded, “Yes!” By their second date, they agreed to “officially date.” Two weeks later, at a White Sox game, they discovered that Jacob took “dating” to mean boyfriend and girlfriend, while Sarah thought titles were a whole separate conversation. Since then, they’ve shared many laughs and intentional conversations, appreciating one another’s differences and growing better together. By the end of August, Sarah wrote in her journal, “I think I am going to marry this man.” Their dating season consisted of many walks around the city, fun adventures, and getting to know one another’s friends and family. Exactly eight months after they started dating, Jacob proposed to Sarah at North Avenue Pier — the same place where they made things “official.” Sarah was, once again, so confident in her answer that she repeatedly said “yes!” and jumped up and down before Jacob even popped the question. She was doubly excited because they had decided to wait until the proposal for their first kiss. Everything was worth the wait. Now, we would love to continue our story by celebrating with you!
