While they both grew up in North Carolina, they wouldn't meet until they both coincidentally moved to Nashville, TN. Taylor had just started her master's degree at Vanderbilt, and Brandon was half way through his first year working for Nixon Power Services. Taylor was in a program that consisted almost exclusively of females, so many of the girls in her cohort were looking for ways to meet guys in this new city. This would lead to Taylor being encouraged to create an account on a dating app by her friends in her cohort. While she was weary of the idea of meeting people online, she wanted to meet more people. Brandon was in a field consisting of almost entirely older men, so he was looking to meet girls in the area. While dating online can be tricky, both were upfront when they met about what they were looking for. After a little while of chatting over the app, they decided to meet for dinner. They met on a Sunday evening in October of 2021 at the Mexican restaurant, Casa Fiesta. After spending a couple hours talking through dinner, they decided to go see the movie, Venom 2. After that night, Taylor would call her friends and rave about how much of a gentleman Brandon was, and how excited she was to have met him. It wasn't long before they started going on more dates, and almost immediately officially started dating. Without knowing what the other one was thinking, both were looking at this relationship as something they believed could be long term. They would soon be inseparable, and became each other's best friends. Within a few months they had discussed what they wanted, what the future may hold, and where they wanted their lives to go. Eventually they moved in together with the support of their parents and friends, and would start planning what their life together would look like. Taylor was adamant that they not get engaged before she graduated with her degree, though they both started discussing what their marriage would look like well before then. Brandon honored her wish, and would tease her about her wanting to be engaged but wanting to wait. They planned on going on their first, big, solo trip together in May after she graduated. While she had convinced herself that she wouldn't see a proposal till after they moved to Georgia, Brandon had talked with her parents already and been hiding the ring for several months. Every day of their cruise, Brandon would put the ring in his pocket, and go ashore, waiting for the perfect moment to pop the question. While there were a few times he thought about doing it, he waited until they were on the boat, alone in a room full of windows overlooking Juneau, Alaska (Taylor's favorite port of the trip). There he would jokingly ask Taylor if she really thought she wanted to marry him, which she of course responded yes to, before he bent to one knee and asked her to be his wife. Taylor was shocked, asking if he was joking, but then quickly saying yes. Both of them were jittery and excited for the rest of the cruise, and had the opportunity to enjoy being engaged for several days before coming back to reality and returning home. They returned to their Nashville apartment, only to quickly start preparing to move to their new home and jobs as an engaged couple in Dallas, Georgia. Now, they excitedly prepare to start this new chapter of their lives and begin their forever together!
