How we met

2011

We met a year after high school at an event for one of our mutual friends. It must have been fate, since I (Bailey) never would have thought I would ever attend an MMA fight, let alone meet my future husband at one. We both were living in Lansing going to school and neither looking to start a serious relationship. We had lots of fun and after practically living together for 9 months, Tyler finally decided to make "our thing" official. He asked me to go with him to his cousins open house, but I was working at a bar and couldn’t get my shift covered, so late that night he called me wishing I was with him and asked if I would be his "girlfriend." Over the years we definitely got to experience all of the different kinds of emotions that comes with being in a relationship. It wasn't always easy and there were a few years that were harder than others, all of them worth it and memorable. Neither of us would trade any of our experiences over the last 8 + years, because it’s what makes our relationship so special and one of a kind!

The propsal

3-16-19

The original proposal plan was that Tyler was going to pop the big question on our annual family vacation in Bradenton Beach, Florida. He had it planned out for months, but 2 days before the trip he decided that he didn't want to wait. My mom agreed and thought it would be just as special, and would be more of a surprise--since both Tyler and her had a feeling I knew something special might happen on this trip. The day of, Tyler tricked me into thinking that he had to run to a real estate property he had listed to put a lock box on the door. I was annoyed because it was so last minute and he already knew we had plans to go to a St. Patrick's Day party around the same time. With one hour to spare, Tyler drove us to the property, where I then had to wait 45 minutes in the truck while he was chit chatting away with the previous homeowner. Once Tyler finished talking, he begged me to get out of the truck and do a quick walk around the property with him. When I got out of the truck, I happened to look down at the coolest leaf with a little heart cut out of it. I showed Tyler, and he thought it was so special (which I had no clue as to why) and told me to leave it in the truck so we could save it. Tyler first showed me around the inside of the house and then we walked outside and down to a big pond that he was obsessing over (prime hunting property). He said come here I want to show you this cool waterfall over here (mind you it’s a pond..) Anyways, I bent over and said Tyler what are you talking about all I can see is the fish pond bubbler. Little did I know when I turned back around that Tyler would be down on his knee asking me to marry him <3
