Our story

Eight years in the making

I met Sean while we were both freshmen in college at SUNY Oneonta. I had just gotten into my sorority, and Sean into his fraternity. My sorority's spring formal was approaching, and I didn't know many people yet, so I wrote in a group chat with my new pledge brothers asking if anyone would like to be my date. Luckily, Sean took a chance on me and said yes! We spent the night talking, getting to know each other and he swept me off my feet. We felt comfortable within our first minutes of meeting each other. We even shared our first kiss that night. Shortly after that semester ended and we moved back into our respective homes for the summer, Sean officially asked me to be his girlfriend. It was at a bar called the Bench on May 26th, 2017. After that, we spent the next three years together in Oneonta. We studied together, went out with friends, and learned how to cook together. We even took a few classes together, like Marketing and a Police Science class. Sean was a better student than me though, but I was more involved on campus. After college graduation, we started our jobs on the same date, September 21, 2020. I began working at a nonprofit and Sean as an EMT. Going from college to "the real world" was a huge transition, and we leaned on each other every step of the way. Soon after, Sean was accepted into the NYPD Academy. Becoming a first responder isn’t for the faint of heart, but his dedication and strength never cease to amaze me. Then, life threw us an unexpected challenge—my dad passed away suddenly. It was a devastating time, but Sean showed up in every way imaginable. Grief changed us, and it also brought us even closer. Through the pain, he supported me as I deepened my faith and stood by me with love and patience. Life has its mountain peaks and valleys, and Sean and I have continued to choose each other through it all. And I'd like to think we make the most of life together. We’ve run a 5K together, hiked plenty with my sister Liz, kayaked, and even rode horses together. We traveled to Florida, Germany, Ireland, and took shorter weekend trips to PA, Boston, and of course, back to Oneonta. Fast forward to our trip to Lake Tahoe, CA in May 2024, Sean had a special surprise up his sleeve. While we were visiting my Uncle Robert and his wife Megan, Sean took me to a serene lake-side park. He brought me to where a stream met the lake, got down on a knee and asked me to marry him. It was a teary-eyed yes! He truly surprised me— he picked the ring out by himself and even got my ring size while I was sleeping. I couldn’t have asked for anything more. We are so excited that we are getting married! And we thank you for being part of our journey. Join us as we enter the next chapter of our love story!
