Early 2016 Phillip started his career as an ice cream extraordinaire at Dairy Queen in Shelby, NC. Bailey soon came around in the Spring of 2016 nervous to start and recognized Phillip from school and immediately felt a little relieved. Over the next year of making blizzards and banana splits as good friends, Bailey had to leave for UNC-Wilmington. Every day her whole freshman year Phillip made sure to send a Snapchat and make sure she did not forget him. Come May of 2018, end of Freshman year, Bailey loathed going back to the DQ for a summer job but she knew she would see her best friend every day. After a few dates outside the Dairy Queen, the rest is history.

On a random Tuesday in June, Bailey and Phillip just wanted to go for a quick hike on the Beacon Heights trail overlooking the Blue Ridge Parkway to reset after a long day of work. Once at the overlook, Phillip disguised himself taking a video of them for a picture to surprise Bailey to turn around and see Phillip on one knee.
