We went to the same middle school, but it wasn’t until Bailey’s best friend Hannah’s (Matron of Honor) Sweet 16 that our paths crossed and the friendship was born! Throughout the rest of high school we were in a close knit friend group that hung out most weekends, and even went to the same summer camp one year on Lake Saranac. Although following high school Bailey went off to the University of Pittsburgh and Peter went to West Chester University, our friendship stayed tight with all the summer parties, group trips to the beach, and winter trips to the mountains. After we graduated from college and Bailey moved back home, our friendship took on a new level, and the rest is history!
We have been together for over 6 years and have been friends for 13! We live in Kennett Square and love to go for walks into town during our work lunch breaks. Some of our favorite hobbies include cooking, hiking, trying new restaurants, skiing (Peter) and snowboarding (Bailey), going to concerts (particularly seeing our favorite band Mt. Joy), and making memories with our best friends on our back patio. Every summer, we spend a week in Cape May and every winter, we practice the famous juggling act of seeing as many of our family members as possible over the holidays!
For 3 years in a row, we rented the same house in Sedona, AZ, for a long-term stay to get a change of scenery while working remotely. We typically had friends and family coming to visit every weekend but found ourselves with an open weekend in late October. We decided to explore a bit outside of Sedona and drove up to Utah for a jam-packed weekend of adventuring: Antelope Canyon, Horseshoe Bend, and Lake Powell. Saturday night after we got back to Sedona, Bailey thought we’d spend the remainder of the weekend relaxing, but Peter had other plans. Peter organized a sunrise hike and secretly brought the ring along thinking maybe this could be the perfect spot. However, the potential proposal at the top was derailed a bit when our phones had service again and we both started getting frantic calls from Bailey’s mom, Elliot, who saw our location on FindMy, and of course, assumed that we were lost in the middle of the mountains. Peter then decided to go with his other idea and suggested a sunset dinner on the rooftop deck. After a bit of a quiet start to dinner (Peter was nervous) he asked Bailey to marry him just as the sun was setting over the red rocks. She said YES!
Bailey is 5’2”. Peter is 6’2”. A funny thing we started doing early on our relationship is what we like to call “the grand tour”. Peter will lift Bailey up and take her around the house and give her a tour, so she can see things from his POV. Mostly things like dust on top of the refrigerator and checking up on her hanging succulent terrarium.
Peter’s birthday is June 22nd. Bailey’s is July 22nd. Peter’s mom’s, Annie, is March 22nd. Peter’s sister’s, Tatie, is September 22nd. AND we got engaged on October 22nd! Time to get some tattoos of 22’s.
