If you ask Matt, he will say "She looked at me head to toe when I walked in to the room". We both started at State Street on the same day and briefly met while waiting for our managers to come pick us up. About a month later we met again in the formal New Employee Orientation. We partnered up for a scavenger hunt and bonded over the show Entourage - even naming our team after the show. Go team Ari. While Matt got out of the remainder of the week, Bailey was stuck learning all about the systems and company. The next day we chatted through office communicator and at the end of the day Matt pulled out his best middle school move and pinged Bailey his number. Somehow the move worked because later that evening Bailey texted him and the rest is history.
Setting the scene: We were traveling abroad to celebrate a friend's wedding (oh hey John & Rachel) and then continuing our trip around Ireland, England, and Spain with more friends (looking at you O'Hawleys). The day started off just like all the others on the trip. We woke up and got ourselves ready with a loose itinerary for the day: See The Cliffs of Moher. Unbeknownst to Bailey, we would also be getting engaged. Molly questioned her multiple times on her choice not to blow-dry her hair, but at least got her to put on jeans and a sweater - under the rouse of good social media pictures. Once everyone was ready we set out to find some breakfast. Unfortunately, we did not account for being in a surfing town during the offseason AND looking to eat at an awkward time by European Standards. With every failed pub attempt, Bailey would say we could just go to the cliffs now and eat later, but everyone was insistent that we couldn't go until 1PM because "that's when the lighting is the best for pictures". We ended up finding the one pub in town that was serving food and made ourselves comfortable at a table. After many Irish Coffees and pints of Guinness it was finally time to see the cliffs. We got to the site of the proposal and Matt asked to take a selfie (see photos tab for the last un-engaged selfie). It was a windy day and Bailey's hair kept blowing in Matt's face, so with frustration Bailey turned to walk away to find Kris and Molly. It was in that moment Matt grabbed her arm to stop her and she whipped around and said "WHAT?!". The moment she turned, she saw Matt on his knee with a stunning ring in hand. Allegedly, Bailey cut Matt off from his well thought out speech and grabbed the ring. Matt continued to knock the surprise out of the park by hiring a photographer (shoutout Philippe in Doolin, Ireland) who captured the whole moment and then took us around the backside of the cliffs for impromptu engagement pictures.
