Bailey and I first hung out on a hike to Lindeman Lake. One Tuesday night at church institute, I was talking with a friend about planning a hike, and Bailey happened to be sitting nearby. On a whim, I asked if he wanted to join us. That Saturday, I picked him up at 6 a.m. and we grabbed a couple of friends along the way. After a two-hour drive, we hiked up for three hours, spent an hour and a half swimming in a freezing lake, and then hiked down. From there, we grabbed dinner with our friends, headed out to a YSA activity where we played volleyball, and finally around 10 we started making our way home. Except… the day didn’t end there. After dropping a friend off, Bailey and I ended up sitting in the carport at his grandparents’ house talking. Eventually, we got out and sat on the front lawn, where we stayed until 6 a.m. We finally called it a night—only because church was at 9 and then we had YSA church at 11. That adventure-packed day (and night) was completely unexpected, but it turned out to be the perfect start to us.
