On October 12th, 2015, Josh asked me out for a coffee date. At first, I said I didn't think it was a good idea due to my slight involvement with someone else at the time. However, for some reason, I had an urge to change my mind. And that's exactly what I did! We had coffee at Walden's Coffee House on October 13th, 2015 at 1:30 PM. Before we knew it, and after hours of pure laughter and enjoyment of each other's company, 5:00 PM rolls around, despite the place closing! We said our goodbyes due to prior evening obligations, but as soon as we left, we knew we had to see each other again. Soon! Simply sitting and talking about anything and everything that came to our minds for nearly four hours, soon made us realize that we were destined to be together. Within a half hour, I even tweeted that I felt as if I had just fallen in love. (Yikes, cheesy right?) Since that day, we have never been happier than we are when we're together and I gained a true, lifelong best friend!
Simple and sweet, this story goes. On February 19th, 2017, I came home to find that Josh had an idea! He mentioned that one of our best friends, Logan came across this extraordinary view of the city and asked if I would like to go see it later that night, due to it being a slow night for the three of us. "Sure, why not!", I answered. So, we got some hot cocoa and blankets together, changed into some comfy clothes and set out. To myself I thought, "this seems like a recreation of one of our first dates" (with the addition of our favorite third wheel), but didn't think much more of it. As we reached the truly breathtaking view of Reno and parked the truck, Logan and I started to walk up the hill a bit to get a better view as Josh stayed behind to "pee". We soon heard Josh yell out my name to come back down and stand with him. So I did. Next thing I knew, this huge tree behind me lit up the whole area with beautifully bright, white lights! I turned around completely confused because, to me, it didn't make sense that this random tree on a random mountain was lit up so brilliantly. I turned around in search of some en(light)enment from Josh only to find him on one knee beginning a heart-melting speech (almost none of which I remember due to my crying, shock and realization of what was happening). Through my tears and asking, "are you serious?!" I said, "YES!". After some lies of where he had been recently and blessings of our families, we are both beyond ecstatic that we are fortunate enough to marry as best friends come February!
