Bailey and Evan were both born and raised in the region. Although they are both ~Region Rats~ as well as Purdue University Alumni, their paths never crossed until after they graduated. They briefly met on St. Patricks Day in Downtown Chicago at a mutual friend's apartment. After several instances of locking eyes with one another, Evan stepped up to make the first move and asked Bailey to be his partner in a game (ha-ha). Bailey and Evan parted ways later that day only to reconnect the following month after ironically discovering that they lived thirty minutes away from one another in Northwest Indiana. Now, it was Evan's chance to make the official first move. He took Bailey out for their first date where they enjoyed tacos and tequila... everyone's first date favorites. After Evan dropped Bailey off at home, she woke everyone up to share that she just met the love of her life. This was the exact moment where her now famous phrase was coined (curtesy of Buddy the Elf), "I'm in love, I'm in love, and I don't care who knows it!" They have been together ever since. Since that first date, they have bonded over their shared love for cooking, spending time with friends and family, and most importantly, their (very needy) dog Oakley. To bring their story full circle, Evan brought Bailey back to the place where it all started two years later and proposed along the Chicago Riverwalk with the Green River as the backdrop in celebration of St. Patrick's Day.

What is your favorite activity together? We have a new found love for making espressos and enjoying them together, especially on a cold but cozy Saturday morning. With the Indiana Dunes close to home, we also enjoy taking Oakley for walks on the beach... although if you ask Oakley he would say he walks us! Where are you going for your honeymoon? This winter we are visiting Universal Studios in Orlando before heading to Miami to leave on a cruise that will stop at St. Thomas, Bahamas, Dominican Republic, and the British Virgin Islands. What is the most memorable trip you have taken together? In May 2022 we went to San Clemente and Catalina Island in California. We drove down Pacific Coast Highway to check out Malibu before indulging at Fisherman's and watching surfers live in action. Naturally, we chose the safest vehicle to drive through the mountains on Catalina Island... a reconstructed Army Hummer. All jokes aside, we made it to get gelato on the beach. The dorkiest thing about us is... ....video games. Nuff said. We take pride in... ...being Boilermakers even though the football team may or may not have the worst record in school history. At least we have the basketball team!
