How We Met

Swipe right...

There's no way to sugar-coat it...we met online! LOL we always laugh saying it but hey, how else are we suppose to meet people these days? We both "swiped right" and connected after each of us being on a dating app for only a couple of days. Our conversations via text grew quickly as we got to learn more about each other. We wanted to make sure neither of us were being catfished because honestly be both thought one another were too good to be true. We decided to have a "FaceTime date" several days later since we lived almost 2 hours apart. In that short zoom date, we prayed together, to ask God to have his will in our lives moving forward if that meant that we were to end up together or even if it didn't work out. We decided right then and there that we were putting God first and at the center of all of this. After our zoom date, we both felt really good about the conversation so we planned to meet up for an actual date the following weekend. Connor did the courtesy of driving to Northwest Arkansas for our first date and let me tell you, it didn't disappoint. (This also made a great first impression on the parents after I told them ;) After some outdoor exploring, we went out for dinner in downtown Bentonville. After dinner, Connor surprised me with a beautiful rose when he dropped me back off at my house and headed back to Tulsa. From that moment, I knew there was something so incredibly different about this guy. It wasn't just the kind gesture of a flower, it was everything about the way he treated me and how he was so intentional about our time together. We soon discovered we did not want to spend much time apart, so as you can imaged the odometer started ticking away on both of our vehicles as we went back and forth between Northwest Arkansas and Tulsa, we truly enjoyed going on new adventures together and spending time getting to know one another. And then as they'd say...the rest was history.

The Engagement

He put a ring on it!

Let's me start by saying, Connor pulled off the ultimate surprise while we are on a trip to Southern California. We were in Palm Springs to attend a wedding for some friends of ours. We also wanted to take advantage of the beautiful scenery and do some exploring of our own while we are in SoCal. I knew we were planning on staying somewhere else after the wedding for an extra night but little did I know what Connor had up his sleeve. The day started out by us going to sight see the Palm Springs Air Tram up on the mountain just outside of town. We had a blast taking photos and getting to see the view of the valley. After that, the day kinda took a bit of a rough turn. We couldn't get cell service to order an Uber, but luckily a local over heard us and offered us a ride back into town. We grabbed some lunch and decided to go shopping downtown to waste some time till we could check in to our hotel that I thought we were staying at. Obviously, I thought wrong! lol While we were out on the town shopping, Conner broke the news that we weren't staying at the hotel downtown he had previously mentioned, he instead booked an Airbnb near Joshua Tree National Park so we could go and take some photos there. I was so excited and thought to myself, well I guess I need to find something cuter to wear then if we are gonna try to take some cool photos in the desert? I couldn't really find exactly what I was wanting to wear but I settled on a fun white sun dress and called it good. We got another Uber and headed to our Airbnb and man was I praying. It was quite possibly the most bizarre Uber ride I've ever been on. The driving was talking non-stop about horror stories of desert all while speeding down the highway in a sandstorm where we could barely see 30 feet in front of us. I just kept looking at Conner, I was holding on, and I was praying!! As we got closer to the Airbnb, we had to go down a sandy-dirt road about 3 miles off he beaten path. I honestly didn't know what to think at this point, I was just hoping we made it there alive and in one piece. To my surprise, Connor had found the most incredible house in the middle of the desert! It was stunning; the landscape, the view, and the house...it was all gorgeous. We spent some time scoping the place out and relaxing before we agreed to get ready before sunset to snap some photos before going to dinner. It's no secret I'm always running late, so this instance was no exception. Connor kept rushing meet to get ready before sunset to take photos before we got an Uber to take us back into town. When I finally came out of the bathroom, he was standing in the middle of the deck with the sweetest song playing over a speaker. Before I could think about what was going on or question why he hadn't put the tripod and camera together, he grabbed me by the hands and got down on one knee! Of course I said YES! And then I hear a clicking sound behind me, only to turn around and find a sweet photographer who had snuck into the back of the house right behind me to snap photos of the perfect moment. Connor had been planning this elaborate set up the whole time and I literally had no clue. I thought he was working throughout the day, but I was wrong. He had been coordinating with the photographer to pull it all off. She truly went above & beyond...she arrived with the rosed in one hand & a bottle of Vueve in the other. After a quick introduction, we took off around the property soaking up those moments of being engaged and allowing her to capture all of the those beautiful moments. We got to FaceTime our families after and enjoy each other's company over some late night Mexican food in our Airbnb. The following day was a miracle to get to the airport in time to catch our flight back home but honestly, I was on cloud9 and couldn't care less if we missed our flight or not. Joshua Tree will always hold a very special place in our hearts & we can't wait to go back again some day!
