Chris and I worked retail at Belk and were both enrolled at Coastal Carolina University. I was in Sophomore year and Chris was working on his second degree in Finance. We worked at Belk for sometime on opposite sides of the store before ever actually meeting. We passed each other in the stairwell or at store meetings and politely smiled but never spoke. I finally moved departments over to ladies shoes where Chris worked. We flirted while working together and everyone could see the spark. Chris said "From the moment I saw you I knew I wanted to marry you." Finally one day after almost a month of working together I asked Chris if he wanted to hang out after work. He worked an early shift that day and I closed. He a little nervous replied "yes" and proceeded to give me his phone number so I could let him know when I was on the way. My shift ended for the night and I made my way to his place, continuously texting the number he gave me to let him know I was coming. No reply to any text but I figured he was cleaning and distracted so I showed up anyway. When I got there I found out that not only was he not intentionally ignoring my text but he was so nervous that he had given me his PARENTS NUMBER (a landline!). We talked until the sun came up and spent everyday together from there on out. Ahh I love this story and it still makes me laugh!
Chris and I had our official first date at the Market Common movie theatre in 2012. January 11, 2017 after working at our studio, we finally had the night off. I suggested a movie. So we found one I'd been wanting to see, Why Him. Chris unaware of the movie plot agreed and took me to see it. Chris had been carrying around the engagement ring he got me for a week now at this point waiting for just the right moment. The ring in his inside coat pocket, he held my hand on the right side and made me sit on his right. Me completely unaware thought he was just being a weirdo! We watched the movie (a story of a guy trying to propose to his girlfriend!) and return to the studio because Chris wanted to "check on things". We walk around the studio (me actually checking on things lol) and him following me around. He took me to the front by the stage and hugged me and asked if I had a good day. I replied, "Yes" and continued to hug him. I noticed his heart was racing a million miles an hour and asked him why his heart was beating so fast. He moved me away from him and said "well" and continued to get down on one knee, pulled out a ring box and opened it. I, completely thrown off, said "if this is a joke it's not funny!" He simply said "Will you marry me, I love you". I of course replied "yes!" and that easily became the best day of my life.
