College dorms are an interesting place, you never know who you'll meet or what you'll see. Sophomore year started with a new roommate for me and I joined her to visit her friend's new digs. I walk through the door and boom I see my friend from high school and here is the important part, Josh goes, "this is my roommate Bill." From there we gathered as a group often and became friends. A few months later, Josh turned 21, a surprise party was held and in the wee hours of the morning Bill and I shared our first kiss. I passed out on his bed, he slept on the couch and we have been inseparable ever since!
After being sick in bed for days, Bill and Ali convinced me to get dressed like a functioning human and go Christmas shopping with them. Little did I know that shopping was a coy distraction. As we are out and about Ali decided a picture at Kathy's favorite Connecticut beach, Hammonassett State Park would be the perfect gift. After a frame was purchased and lunch was had we drove to the beach. I snapped photos of the cuties being all sibling like and then Ali says, "hey, you guys want photos while we're here?" Why not, right? So, we climb up onto the jetty, took a few traditional couple photos and a huge gust of wind took my hair flying. When I tamed the mane, I looked back over and there was Bill down on one knee! And as you can probably guess, I said YES!
In the midst of a world wide pandemic Bill and I decided to follow through on our original wedding plans. With help from our family we put mini wedding planning into full swing. Dress and tux shopping, gathering decorations and a large Costco trip to get all the nourishments. Enlisting dear friends to photograph and marry us and we were in business! We were married with our parents and siblings by our sides and our families joining us virtually via Zoom. We cried, we laughed and we started our new chapter as husband and wife. Definitely not how we envisioned our wedding day to be but it will be a memory we will celebrate and cherish forever!
