Picture it: late 2017. Chicago, Illinois. Two fresh college grads move to the city to “grow up,” make friends, and—naturally—try our hand at improv comedy (because why not put ourselves through more rejection than college already gave us?). We both signed up for classes at The Annoyance Theater & Bar, home of questionable fried food and equally questionable “yes, and” choices. When Bailey first locked eyes on Ali at the Level 1 Showcase, it was over. Bailey was basically hit with the improv equivalent of love at first sight: no script, all feelings, and definitely no plan. We quickly became best friends— each of us the other’s first real Chicago friend that wasn’t a carryover from a past life. Meanwhile, Bailey was busy confiding in literally everyone - Ricki, Maisy, the guy making sandwiches at the West Loop Jimmy John’s - about this “secret” crush. Spoiler: secrets don’t stay secret long when they are Bailey’s. Eventually, wasted in Boystown with no other choice, Bailey spilled the beans to Ali. A little more time, a few electric trips to Bobby Love’s, thousands of dollars wasted on improv classes and—boom—a romance blossomed. Suddenly, we were inseparable. We adopted our son Frank (the dog), moved across the country, heck Ali even convinced Bailey going to the beach isn’t that bad. Fast forward to February 2025: Ali proposes at The Annoyance Theater, during a drag show hosted by none other than our bestie Derry Queen, bringing it full circle. Bailey followed up with a more intimate (but equally gay as hell) proposal that June in Provincetown, one of our other favorite spots. Now, here we are—living the dream, grateful every day for each other, our dog-son Frank, and for all of you who’ve been part of this wild, funny, beautiful scene we’re building together.
