We have finally been able to set a date for April 16th, 2022. We hope you can join us in our reception celebrating our marriage!
Matt and Bailee first met in High School on Chaminade's cheer team. Matt didn't know at the time, but Bailee had a crush on him and tried to gain his attention. They both started dating other people (each other's best friends, actually) and became friends. After High School, Matt and Bailee dated for a couple of months, and decided the timing wasn't right, as Bailee went off to college. Two days after moving back from college, Bailee decided to try out for Cheer Los Angeles, a non profit charitable adult cheerleading team which many Chaminade alumni were a part of, including Matt. Day one of tryouts, Matt and Bailee ran into each other and Matt helped Bailee through the tryout process. They remained friends for a couple of months: going to open gym, carpooling to Cheer LA events, and hanging out on weekends. They started dating again soon after, realizing their feelings for each other had never quite dwindled.
Matt and Bailee had talked about getting engaged a little bit towards the end of 2018. Matt, knowing he needed some help, enlisted his siblings to help find a ring and set up a place to pop the question. On New Years morning, Matt asked Bailee if she wanted to go on a hike with him and his siblings. Having stayed up a little late the night before hand, Bailee was more than a little hesitant to go out in the sun but luckily agreed after a little convincing. They headed over to a trail called Sope Creek where there is a small lake not too far down the path. The original plan was to propose on the dock of the lake, but there were fisherman there. Bailee was a bit confused when Matt disappointingly whispered "Right, fishing, because that's what people do on docks at a lake...". A bit down the trail, with his siblings sneakily getting out their phones and whispering to Matt to, "Get on with it", he got down on one knee and asked to spend the rest of his life with Bailee. After Bailee got verbal confirmation that he wasn't just messing with her, through joyous tears she enthusiastically said "Yes!". Obviously. if she said "No" this wouldn't be a wedding.
