A secret crush, a boy who couldn't make it to class on time, and a few stolen glances across the room. That's where our story begins. It was the fall of 2018, the first semester of senior year, when Bailee and Jack first crossed paths in their FRANK Magazine class, a student-run publication where Bailee was a writer and Jack was an animator and illustrator. Bailee was the bubbly one, making friends with just about everyone. Jack, on the other hand, was the quiet, mysterious boy who would come rushing into class late, fresh from the campus gym, skateboard in hand. Every time he walked through the door, heads would turn. Partly because he was late, but mostly because he was gorgeous. And everyone had a crush on him. Over happy hour drinks, Bailee and her classmates would gush about the mysterious boy with the skateboard. He was quiet, talented, and painfully handsome. And just like everyone else, Bailee had a crush. But in a very out-of-character move, she kept hers hush-hush. Not a soul needed to know. There was just one little problem. She needed to find a way to talk to him. Once again, the two have social media to thank for bridging the gap between stolen glances and an actual conversation. Bailee patiently waited for Jack to post his first Instagram story, and when the day finally came, she was ready. It was a screenshot of a song called "Bath Bomb" by Diet Cig, to which Bailee promptly replied: "I LOVE THIS SONG" She had never heard it in her life. But her plan worked! That one little message sparked nonstop banter. Instagram DMs turned into text messages, which turned into a coffee date before class, nights out dancing, a first kiss, and eventually, finding any excuse to spend time together. Before they knew it, they were inseparable. Best friends who had fallen in love. The years that followed were filled with shared playlists, new adventures, and the simple joy of doing just about everything together. They made it through a global pandemic, during which Jack moved into the two-story apartment Bailee shared with her best friends to "test out" living together before making it the real deal. Luckily, it didn't take much convincing. Her friends already loved Jack, and the promise of $400 monthly rent didn't hurt either. A little unconventional, perhaps, but it worked out beautifully. In 2020, they moved into their first apartment together and, on that very same day, became parents to their beloved feline daughter, Joan. Since then, they've spent their days growing up together, exchanging music, making each other laugh, and building a life filled with all the little things that make it so special. Eight years later, Bailee still has a crush on that mysterious boy with the skateboard. And Jack is still just as charmed by the bubbly girl who pretended to know his favorite song. Life together has been far too much fun, and they have no plans of slowing down. What better way to keep the good times rolling than doing it for a lifetime? ♡
