How do you get around the Philippines?

Answer

Manila Area - "Grab" is a ride service recommended for use; similar to Uber. Taxis are also available, along with a "Jeepney" or Motorcycle side cars "Tricycle". Please note that traffic in the Philippines is worst than Los Angeles. 1 hour travel time is the usual for 5-10 mile distances, especially during rush hour. Tagaytay Area - "Tricycles" are the most readily available form of transportation. Private cars are another option.

Tagaytay is about 2.5 hours from the Manila area. It is recommended to set-up a private shuttle. Please reference the travel tab.

Question

Currency Exchange, How do I pay?

Answer

The accepted currency in the Philippines is the Philippines Peso. Although Visa/Mastercard (sometimes American Express) is accepted in some commercial outlets (hotels, malls, restaurants, etc) it is recommended to carry some cash on you for more local interactions (street vendors, tricycle rides, etc). When exchanging USD to Pesos, the exchange rate is changing every minute and is generally good at the airport stands. Ensure that you bring "crisp" bills (no writing or tears) and in large denominations ($100 bills). The smaller the bill, the lower the exchange rate may be.

Question

Where can I stay the night?

Answer

The wedding location is in Tagaytay and the following are recommendations for stay. The reception venue Hillcreek Gardens, has a limited amount of rooms available. Other hotels in the area are Twin Lakes and Splendido Tagaytay Hotel Tower 2. There are local boutique hotels in the area that are also available. For those staying in the Manila area before and/or after the wedding...we recommend hotels or Airbnbs in one of the following areas: Manila Paranaque Bonifacio Global City (BGC) Makati Greenbelt We will be staying primarily in BGC.
