In June 2023, Conner and Sydney set off to traverse the island of Iceland for 10 days in a campervan. After a few totally kick-ass days hiking and waterfall gazing, they arrived in the small fishing village of Borgarfjörður eystri in East Iceland. The afternoon was spent peeping the 10,000 pairs of puffins that nest nearby and dodging dozens of cruise ship tourists in blue branded coats they affectionately nicknamed Blueberries before heading back to their campground for the night. The campground, nestled in the valley surrounded by snow-capped peaks, is rich with cultural Icelandic folklore. Just beyond the campgrounds stand the ruins of the hallowed Álfaborg, City of Elves, and the residence of the Queen. Conner was itching to explore, Sydney was itching to eat dinner. After some not-so-gentle prodding to continue on, they started to ascend the stepping stones and the hanger took over. Sydney roasted Conner the entire way up, only to find something else was waiting other than the panoramic views of Borgarfjörður eystri. It was then, amongst the Huldufólk ("Hidden People" or Elves) Conner got down on one knee and asked Sydney to marry him.
