The year was 2002. Haley was just starting preschool and Spencer was repeating a year of preschool, for obvious reasons. Little did they know sharing preschool swings and eventually elementary school monkey bars would lead to this. Haley and Spencer met at Abiding Savior Lutheran School and were in the same class off and on until 8th grade. Haley remembers Spencer's stellar basketball skills and competing with him for the highest grades. Spencer doesn't remember Haley at all...ouch! After graduating 8th grade, they went their separate ways to high school.

Haley and Spencer reconnected in college when they were both attending CUI and working at Abiding Savior in after-school care. At first, Haley saw Spencer purely as an opponent at work, a dynamite dodgeball nemesis. When she realized he was funny sometimes, she began to see him more as a friend. Haley and Spencer grew closer as friends while they reminisced about elementary school classmates and teachers, sharing stories and "remember when"s. They found their common faith in Christ rooted in their time at Abiding Savior to be the foundation of their friendship and eventually their relationship. "Let's get food sometime" turned into regular hikes and trying every hot chicken sandwich place that popped up. They began making meals for their families and sitting together every day for lunch - at those same lunch tables they ate pizza lunch at years before. Nowadays, Haley and Spencer cherish time spent hiking, playing pickleball, cooking, laughing with family, and studying God's Word together. They are thrilled to be surrounded by friends and family on their big day!
