How We Met

Stephanie's Version

Well, they say never to date anyone you work with, statistically, it just causes too much problems. But luckily, this is one of those rare occasions that it worked out amazing for us. When I met Brian, he and I were both in a huge transition in our career path. He had just gotten promoted and I was mentoring to be the store's administrative personnel (secretary). The position that Brian filled in our store was abrupt, as there was an emergency that happened with the previous manager in that same position. We had some other managers fill in while corporate tried to find a replacement, but it ultimately led Brian to our store. And honestly, if it wasn't for that, I wouldn't be here typing this story out for you guys and marrying the best man I have ever met. One door closed, and another opened. From then on, I first made sure that Brian wasn't taken by someone else and that he was as interested in me as I was with him and everything fell into place as it did. Nothing took long. He and I just followed our feelings for each other and there was always an undeniable connection between us that was very imminent that I had to take a leap of faith.

How We Met

Brian's Version

I just got promoted to a managerial position I had been thinking of applying for, for a couple years. Two weeks later, I transferred to my first store officially as a Grocery Manager. In the midst of getting to know everyone, I noticed the cute girl that was tending to the customer service desk and the secretary's office upstairs. In one of our shifts, we exchanged "hello's" and our ages (because for some reason, that mattered to her a lot, to this day where I tell her that our gap is really not that bad). That same day, I heard an intercom call for me to dial an extension, and to my surprise, it was Stephanie at the other end. The conversation was as follows: Me: Hello? Stephanie: Hey, sorry to take you out of your work but I just had a quick random question Me: Okay Stephanie: Are you married? Me: Uhh, no I am not. *10 second pause* Are you? Stephanie: Oh God no. Me: Okay, good. Stephanie: Okay, that's all. Thank you! End of conversation. And here we are. It's a darn good thing my answer was a no, because I wouldn't have been able to make my move, get to know my stunning (now) fiancee and marry the love of my life.

The Proposal

First came everything else, then comes marriage.

This proposal was anticipated for months. Hints were dropped and quite frankly, Stephanie was not good at surprises made for her. Anything different or unusual that would happen and she would know immediately something was up, so the day had to be casual. First we all went to the park to fly kites and enjoy the nice February weather, then we went out to dinner which we sometimes do when we don't feel like cooking dinner. It was at this restaurant where a bouquet of red roses were delivered and a family heirloom ring was proposed in exchange for a hand in marriage. Even though the proposal was to be expected, it was still nerve-wracking and exciting at the same time.
