We met on the bus on the way to a middle school band competition, like the nerds we are. Rembrandt was funny- like laugh out loud, smile all the way to your ears funny. Azella was sweet, and made Remy feel at home right from the start. We were friends immediately. From there, we became inseparable. We started dating a few months later (at only 13!) and have been together ever since.

In the thirteen years we’ve spent together, our love has only grown and deepened. From middle school crush to high school sweethearts to college girlfriend and boyfriend, we endured years of long distance before finally moving in together in 2021. Since then, we’ve lived in two cities and three apartments. We’ve raised one beloved hedgehog, Tofu. We’ve met some amazing friends, and have become part of each others families. Through it all, we have become the best of friends and partners. We couldn’t have asked for anyone better to grow up with. And now we are excited for the chance to grow old together!

Rembrandt proposed on September 2nd, 2025 in the heart of the Hoh Rain Forest, nestled in the Olympic Peninsula of Washington. We were on a two week trip of a lifetime that took us from Seattle, to Olympic, the San Juan Islands, Mount Baker, North Cascades, and into Canada. It was Azella’s dream to see the mossy rainforest. We had come down with a flu, which left us sick and sniffly, but we didn’t let that stop us from experiencing the forests, seas, and mountains of Washington! It was on the Spruce Nature Trail, beneath a spruce more than a thousand years old, that Remy proposed. Of course, she said yes!
