There are plenty of taxis all around Israel that you can hail down if they are available. "Gett Taxi" is the Israeli version of "Uber", but only certified taxis are on this app. Definitely worth downloading to minimize wait time and handle all transactions through the app. For transportation between bigger cities, for example from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, you can opt for a high speed train. Download the app "Israeli Railways" to book tickets.

Many taxi drivers will pick you up and ask "moneh o machir". This means "meter or cash". Always opt for the "moneh" (meter). They try to convince you that you'll save money with "machir" (cash), but this is a classic Israeli negotiation tactic.

Generally speaking, negotiating in marketplaces and with taxi drivers is fair play. Negotiating the price of a steak in a restaurant after you ate it, not so much.
