We had a happy and small celebration of just 14 guests in New York City. It was a beautiful spring day with a little chill in the wind but flowers beginning to bloom and the sun shining in full force. Here's how the festivities unfolded: The night before - The bride and groom each enjoyed a separate intimate dinner with our respective families. Jonathan's family had a lovely Mexico City style dinner at Cosme, while Ayumi's had fresh fish delivered for an at-home sushi hand-roll night. 10am - The Bride and Groom got ready for the day in their room at The Beekman Hotel accompanied by two of our closest friends. 1pm - Our parents and siblings got together without the couple at Sadelle's and enjoyed bagels and smoked seafood towers. 3:30pm - We got hitched at NYC City Hall. Due to COVID-19 rules, only our witness was allowed to come inside, which was Nato, our friend and photographer. As we waited for our ceremony appointment, we read the letters we exchanged containing our vows. Upon exiting the building, we were greeted by our guests with confetti (complete with a surprise brief visit from our friend Peter). 5pm - We went to the beautiful lobby bar at The Beekman Hotel. We enjoyed oysters and a champagne toast before hopping on the subway to our next stop. 7pm - The couple and 14 guests enjoyed a dinner at Kimika, a Japanese & Italian fusion restauraunt, to celebrate our families coming together. Jonathan's sister made a beautiful Black Sesame & Cassis layer cake (our friend Maya Okada Erickson's recipe), some speeches were made and we left full, merry and married!
