"the next hole will change your life"
Our families have been intertwined for many many years. I was raised in Escondido, CA and knew the Doyles who lived in Escondido. Nick and I got to know each other as Nick and his family would come to visit their family in Escondido during conventions and family gatherings. When Nick was about 11 I dared him to hit one of his cousins with a whiffle ball and since Nick does not turn down a dare he hit him. And that I guess is where it all started. We then spent some time together at a convention in San Diego quite a few years ago and kept in touch. During Covid, we found we both were Star War geeks and became even better friends. We joined service groups together over zoom and we talked to each other about everything. We became such good friends that Nick even asked his mom for some advice. He said "If I got married do you think whoever I married will be okay that Ayla and I are best friends?"...she of course said no it doesn't work that way. But that is when she knew one day I would be Nicks wife. And here we are: still Star Wars geeks, pioneering together, love golfing together, love traveling together and feel that home is where each other is.
