Once owned by Thomas Jefferson and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the 215-foot tall Natural Bridge is a limestone gorge carved out by Cedar Creek. Access 6 miles of hiking trails, including the accessible Cedar Creek Trail leading from the bridge to the Monacan Indian Village and Lace Falls with its 30-foot cascade. Whether you’re interested in a easy stroll—perhaps along the historic Chessie Trail, a rail-trail comprised of a portion of the old Cheseapeake & Ohio Railroad bed as well as canal towpath—or something more strenuous—such as a hike to Devil’s Marbleyard, which offers very unique natural views compared with most hikes in the area – amazing hiking trails for all ages and levels of ability abound within a short drive of Lexington.
The museum preserves Thomas J. “Stonewall” Jackson's former home and its collections and educates the public by interpreting Jackson's life as a professor, church leader, businessman, husband, and community leader during the decade that he lived in Lexington and taught at Virginia Military Institute before the American Civil War.
