We originally met in middle school. We both went to Madras Middle school, but Ayanna changed schools halfway through eighth grade. We were friends, but since we weren't super close we didn't keep in touch. We didn't see each other again until we happened to run into each other in a Men's Warehouse our senior years of high school!

After I called it off with my high school prom date, we ran into each other in a Men’s Warehouse just a month before senior prom! Jake was there helping his friend pick a tux but skipping his high school prom. After a couple of dates, Jake took me to prom and we continued to date through college despite not being able to see much of each other freshman year.

Jake wins this one! He told me he loved me over the phone one night (after only a couple of weeks of dating!) and I kind of freaked out. He was patient though, and continued to say it until I was ready to say it back.

We got engaged in the Smokies! On a long-awaited weekend vacation to Pigeon Forge, Jake organized for Shaina to wait across from the Old Mill Restaurant, where we had just eaten lunch. He got down on one knee as we crossed the bridge. It was such a beautiful surprise!
