Question

I'm coming from out of town - any tips on travel, where to stay?I'm coming from out of town - any tips on travel, where to stay?

Answer

YES! Since we are doing a very small reception, we do not have a hotel block but could recommend the following: Flights: Fly into San Antonio International (SAT). The venue is about 15 min drive from the airport if arriving same-day. Hotel: There are several excellent AirBnB and hotel options near the airport or in the Leon Valley/Medical Center/Northwest San Antonio area close to the venue. Let us know if you are interested in connecting with other guests to share hotel!

Could be hot, could be cold! San Antonio is a semi-arid city and experiences large temperature swings this time of year. Highs in the 70-80s, lows in the 50s at night. Layers encouraged. Our reception will be entirely indoors.

Question

What else is there to do in San Antonio? What else is there to do in San Antonio?

Answer

Looking to stay here for a few days? There's a lot to explore. We recommend seeing some of the more historical sites (e.g., The Alamo, Riverwalk area). There are several really amazing museums (e.g., MoMA, Witte Natural Science Museum), and lots of things to do with kids (e.g., Do-Seum, San Antonio Zoo)! If you're looking for something special... Our favorite spot is called The Pearl (see photo above). It's an old canning factory that was turned into a beautiful shopping center, food hall, and outdoor lounge area. Our first date was here at a chinese restaurant called Best Quality Daughter, followed by locally sourced ice cream at Lick. You can also take a stroll down a quieter part of the historic Riverwalk from the Pearl! Get a couple of old-fashioned sodas from Pullman Market and people-watch on the patio. Or grab some brunch at Full Goods Diner. The Pearl Farmer's Market also operates on Saturday and Sunday mornings from 9am - 1pm. Find the Brazilian stand for the perfect Pao de Quejo (cheese bread) or try the empanada stand! Other restaurant recommendations: American: Max & Louie's New York Diner, Five Guys, Snooze Eatery, Ida Claire, The Guenther House, Southerleigh, Full Goods Diner, Magnolia Pancake Haus Mexican/Tex Mex: Just follow your nose... ;) Taqueria Datapoint, Pappasito's Cantina Asian: Tiger Cuisine, Sichuan House, Jinya, Matcha Cafe Maiko, KPOT Korean BBQ & Hot Pot, bb.q Chicken (korean fried chicken), Pelicana Chicken (also KFC) Indo-Pak: Madurai Mes, Kababchi Grill, Pasha Mediterranean Grill Quick bites: Cava, Sweetgreen, Trader Joe's, HEB (grocery store), Popeye's, Chick Fil A, and just about any other fast food option you might crave are all readily available.
