It was New Year’s Eve 2013 when our story really began. I remember walking into Jake & Mike’s apartment, seeing Alec sitting across the room on the couch. It was a big surprise to say the least. I had expected to see a lot of old high school friends that night, but not Alec McRobbie-Johnson. Seeing him was a pleasant surprise, I was having flashbacks of my freshman year of high school & the handsome guy that sat behind me in spanish class. It didnt take me long to decide, he was going to be my New Years kiss. The night went on & midnight drew closer... 11:55 pm- I knew if I wanted him to be my kiss I needed to make sure I was “conveniently” near when the clock struck midnight. 11:58 pm- spotted Alec in the kitchen & made my way to his direction 11:59 pm- “conveniently”stood behind him 12:00 am- shared my first kiss with the man that would one day be my husband. On December 27, 2018 in Alec’s hometown of Red Deer, Alberta; he took me ice skating on a frozen pond & in front of his family & our dear friends, got down on one knee & asked me to spend forever with him. Saying yes was the easiest decision I have ever made since that first NYE together when we shared our last, first kiss. In the 6 years since that night, Alec & I have experienced so much life together. We held tight onto the memories through our first summer together, struggled & lost our way through long distance, found our way back to love & simultaneously became roommates, adopted 2 fur babies. We have moved a lot & traveled even more. We have laughed, cried, supported one another, & more than anything we have grown up together. I think one of the things that we cherish most about our relationship is our shared love for travel & adventure, but nothing will top the next chapter that we are about to embark on. & we are so excited to have our family & friends there to share it with us!
