Hermann Park is home to numerous cultural institutions including the Houston Zoo, Miller Outdoor Theatre, the Houston Museum of Natural Science, and the Hermann Park Golf Course. The park features a large reflecting pool, numerous gardens, picnic areas, and McGovern Lake, an 8-acre recreational lake. It is close to the wedding venue and the location of one of our first dates.
Buffalo Bayou Park, labeled a "signature, verdant downtown gateway" by the Houston Chronicle, includes a dog park, broad lawns, gardens, restaurants, and an art space inside a historic disused cistern. It features beautiful views of the Houston downtown skyline.
The Houston Museum of Natural Science has four floors of natural science halls and exhibits, including a Planetarium, Butterfly Center, and the Wortham Giant Screen Theatre (formerly an IMAX). The museum is one of the most popular in the United States, primarily due to its large number of special or guest exhibits.
