Our Story

As Fate Would Have It...

Some love stories begin instantly. Ours took its time—woven together by timing, distance, and a quiet persistence that kept pulling us back to one another. We met through mutual friends—our best friends are cousins—and for years, we existed in the same circles without ever truly meeting. We attended the same gatherings, shared the same spaces, and never once spoke. One night, Steve unexpectedly approached me and asked for the digits, I was genuinely surprised. We had never exchanged more than a passing glance. But once we began talking, the connection was undeniable. Our first date was at a local bar in The Grove, and from the very beginning, Steve stood out. He asked thoughtful, intentional questions—questions that showed he wanted to understand me on a deeper level. He often said I was “a mystery,” and I loved that he was curious enough to want to know every part of me. Life led us down separate paths early on. I moved to Atlanta, and we attempted long distance while he began his career as a truck driver. Though we tried to stay connected, the distance eventually caught up with us, and we lost touch. Later, when I moved to Houston, fate intervened once again as he began getting trucking routes through Texas. We reconnected, hopeful but realistic, and tried long distance one more time. Loving each other from afar proved difficult, and once again, we drifted apart. The final chapter of our reconnection began in the simplest way—after a major storm hit Houston, he called just to check on me. That call led to a Thanksgiving visit back home in St. Louis, where I was honest about what my heart needed. I told him this would be our last time finding our way back to each other. If it didn’t work, we had to let it go. He didn’t just hear me—he showed me. He made the effort, spending more time in Houston and stopping through whenever his routes allowed. Then the world slowed down. When COVID hit, I moved back to St. Louis, and that’s when everything changed. We spent every weekend together, quickly becoming inseparable. What followed was a season of growth, laughter, and intentional love. After a year, we moved in together and built a life grounded in trust, partnership, and unwavering support. In January 2024, he planned the most beautiful surprise proposal with the help of my family, ensuring my best friend Taylor flew in from Atlanta to be there. Surrounded by the people I love most, it was everything I could have hoped for and more. The following month, we officially moved to Houston together, ready to begin our next chapter side by side. Today, we’ve traveled the world together and created a life filled with laughter, encouragement, and deep respect for one another. We challenge each other to grow, support each other fully, and show up every day as partners and best friends. After finding our way back to each other time and time again, we know this love was always meant to last—and we can’t wait to celebrate forever with the people who mean the most to us!
