The Proposal

March 2, 2019

My best friend, Lydia, and I were in San Francisco to hang out with my little cousin so that my aunt and uncle could have a little weekend getaway! Max knew about my trip when I first booked it, about 6 weeks prior. On the day it happened, Lyd (shoutout to you girl, you’re a rockstar) convinced me to buy a dress, curl my hair, AND put makeup on (if you know me, you know doing those things is like once a year) so that her and I could get a cute picture by the bridge that night. We had planned to meet my uncle for dinner near a super cool photo spot. It was raining and foggy, and I was not feeling the whole picture thing, but figured I’d suck it up for Lydia since she flew out there to help me for the weekend. When we got to the spot, I walked around the corner of the building and saw Max standing on the pier. I was in complete shock and quite honestly don’t remember a thing that he said after that 😂 but it was the easiest “yes” of my life!! He even got my mom and his mom and sisters there. It was magical!

Our Story

Max and I met for the first time when we were in 8th grade. I had just started at Lincoln Christian, and we sat at the same table in bible class. Max would always steal my pencils and copy my papers, and I just thought he was funny and kind of annoying. We hung out with the same group of friends, and towards the end of our freshman year we started getting really close. We hung out all summer and became the best of friends. We told each other everything and we were always together! The fall of our sophomore year, Max decided to confess his undying love for me over a series of snapchats :) I was totally caught off guard and very flattered, but also freaked out. I was not expecting it at all. I gave him a hard "no" and we went on with life! For the next year, Max pursued me. We remained best friends, but it was no secret that he had feelings for me. I think all of our friends were rooting for him too ;) Our first semester of junior year, I went through some tough stuff. Max stood by my side through all of it and remained a constant encouragement, and a steady friend. That December, we started dating, and the rest is history!
