How We Met

From Jared's Perspective

The story on how Avery and Jared met.. After college Avery became the Athletic trainer for Conotton Valley. Little did she know that her future husband would end up helping coach a year at that school but before it all happened there where quite some story’s that I talked to my long friend Matt about. Since Matt was the head coach I like going over and watching the games frequently. That year that Matt was head coach I sure would ask Matt a lot about that Athletic trainer as Matt would say “did you even watch the game!?” I’d come back with “well I did but she had my head for a little bit” I’d tell him how I thought the kids played and maybe throwing in some pointers on who I thought he might need to rely on in the next game or two but it always went back to dang that trainer man! After that year Matt was trying to get me to help him coach. I agreed as I thought that I needed something like that in my life to get me out of my comfort zone. I then helped for his third season and my first, little did I know that my future wife was going to be by my side a lot. As I started helping I told Matt a lot of time “man I really like how this keeps me on my toes” I enjoyed being with the kids everyday and hearing what they have to say each and everyday. The start of the season came and I then realized that Avery the Athletic trainer was there just about everyday Matt and I were there (that is her job after all). After that first practice Matt said to me “she’s (Avery) is going to have your attention more than me isn’t she?” I came back with “that ain’t bad” and since that day every time Avery came in the gym I always just yelled out to Matt “that ain’t bad” knowing that he knew who I was talking about and it didn’t matter what we where doing but it turned into a very good inside joke. The more and more that I was around Avery I grew to like how she carried herself and talked to the kids to talking to us coaches. I could tell that we had something good going but my mom told me that I better not talk with anyone that works for the school since I’m helping coach because that’s the more professional thing to do after all. So, I had to respect my mother and keep my mouth shut As the season went on man did the kids really know that Avery and I where going to get married one day. Even though we haven’t even hung out or were even friends away from the school. But they all saw what we had going on before we even really thought about it. We both went through that season making small talk and getting to know each other as co-workers. When the season was coming to the end I could tell that Avery had a secret that she was holding back and that’s when I got out of her that she was going to be switching schools as Athletic trainer from Conotton Valley to Sandy Valley her Alma mater. She told me that I better keep it a secret. I kept my promise after the season came to an end. We were at the end of the year banquet and I just couldn’t leave and not say anything to her. I wanted to at least wish her luck with her work in the future and just in life. So, I went ahead after the banquet I had to butt into a conversation she was having to just congratulate her in her future with going to Sandy Valley and that I really enjoyed to have her company while I helped Matt coach that year. After that basketball season Avery decided to add me on some social media. As I knew why she did :) But I took my own time to reach out to her. Once I reached out there was no going back from there. We both just felt something more and more every time that we were with each other. We talked about a month and a half before I had the nerve to ask her to be more than just friends. We dating about a year before I just couldn’t wait anymore before I asked her to marry me on April 10, 2021 and my love keeps growing everyday since I meet her and always will.
