Our favorite place in Somerville! A great spot any time of day. In the morning, grab a coffee from Remnant and breakfast from Mike & Patty’s. At lunch or in the evening, go back for a beer at Remnant, pizza from Hot Box, empanadas from Buenas, and fries from Saus. And don’t skip the second floor — it’s always changing with new, local shops and fun finds.
A free 2.5 walk that brings you through downtown Boston and shows you a bunch of old cool things like Paul Revere's house. Follow the red-bricks and see some American History!
A great café with yummy egg breakfast sandwiches. Located in an old bank building, we love trying to snag a seat in the old vault inside or outside if the weather’s nice.
nachos and margs.
Classic late-night pizza in Harvard Square. It’s tiny, always packed, and somehow the slices taste even better after midnight. Back in her college days, Corinne could sometimes be spotted behind the counter serving pizzas.
A short walk from the square with nice skyline views of Boston, especially at sunset. It’s also one of Somerville’s most historic spots — the Prospect Hill Monument marks where George Washington’s army first raised the Grand Union Flag during the Revolutionary War. It’s our favorite quick escape from our apartment — and it’s also where we got engaged, so obviously we love it. 💍🍦
Kind of a joke… but also not. If you know, you know. The Somerville Market Basket is a local hotspot — chaotic, crowded, and completely unmatched for deals. It’s been a neighborhood staple since the 1970s, and though it’s not glamorous, it’s where everyone actually shops. We love it for groceries, people-watching, and the pure thrill of surviving the checkout line together. Basket til the Casket.
They make amazing homemade English muffins, and Corinne loves the Sam I Am — a delicious egg sandwich with garlicky greens and dijonnaise. The only downside? It’s gotten very popular since being featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives (though we all know Ken would’ve loved that).
If you have a night free for dinner, we can’t recommend Sarma enough. It’s a little on the pricier side, but so worth it. Reservations can be tough, so either book in advance or walk in early and put your name down. The food is absolutely delicious — and whatever you do, get the cornbread.
Hidden behind a big red door, this speakeasy-style cocktail bar is one of our favorites. The drinks are always delicious — they change their menu and theme every month. Corinne loves their cocktails, and Avery loves their Narragansetts.
A much loved museum located on the campus of the school Corinne went to. Can also walk around the campus and look at all the brick buildings.
