Clay and I have known each other for many years through my cousin Devan. He invited me to come play slo-pitch in the rodeo tournament with the Average Joes. Clay wore that same canvas cowboy hat and jorts the entire weekend. We started talking at one of the dances that weekend and just never stopped. We started taking turns commuting back and forth from Grande Prairie to Manning almost every weekend, but during seeding and harvesting seasons it was all me. The long distance wasn't going to last forever, so we decided together that I would move back to Manning into Clays new shouse with him. Then we were so excited to find out that I was pregnant! When I was 7 months pregnant Clay spontaneously took me on a quad ride to a cliff by our house with a beautiful view of the Mekel River valley. It was quite the trek to get there, we took the bumpiest route ever that required me to get off the quad multiple times and to jump over a little creek, which ended with me falling into a thorn bush. When we got to the lookout I stayed on the quad picking the thorns out of my hand while Clay made attempt after attempt to get me off the quad so that he could propose to me. When he finally did he got down on one knee. 2 months later we are blessed with our beautiful son Kirby and the beginning of our happy family! And we wouldn't have it any other way!
