In October of 2019, Avery started a new job at the Antelope Reception Center at GCU where Baylor had been for the two months prior. Ever since she started at the ARC, Baylor had huge heart eyes for her and would always try to get to know her throughout the workday. One day, there was a customer that was insistent on getting in contact with Baylor, who was the group tours coordinator at the time, and Avery answering the calls. Avery eventually direct-messaged Baylor saying, "Baylor please call that school that guy has called 3 times!". Baylor responded, "I will! Also, here's my number so you don't have to GroupMe anymore." Pretty smooth right?
Towards the end of February 2020, Baylor and Avery talked every day and literally became enamored with each other. It was such a blessing from the Lord that we found each other. It was at a time where neither of us were actively pursuing a relationship, it simply just happened. It definitely was not a coincidence. After nearly two months of Baylor and Avery getting to know each other on a more personal level, Baylor asked Avery to be his girlfriend on April 18th, 2020 at Lake Pleasant with a dinner picnic down by the water at sunset.
On September 11th, 2021, Baylor proposed to Avery. It was the most exciting, perfect, and beautiful day we both could have ever imagined. We had decided to go on one last cabin trip before we got too busy with school. Baylor's family has a cabin in Munds Park, Arizona and we go up to the cabin whenever we can. It is our little happy place. On proposal weekend, Baylor's family and Avery arrived at the cabin Friday night. The next day Baylor told Avery very casually that we were going on a lunch date in Flagstaff and when we got back we would play golf with the family. The two of us went out to lunch as the Grimm family arrived to help the Gibbs set up the proposal spot in our favorite part of the forest. The spot of the proposal is where we would do Sunday devotionals and prayer whenever we went to the cabin. On our way back from lunch, Baylor's mom called the two of us saying that Dad, Gaige, & Karrigan got a flat tire in the forest and we needed to go help and pick them up. We arrived at the spot and walked into the forest. Avery was shocked when she saw the proposal set-up and realized what was happening. Our families were hidden in the trees about 100 yards back and came out to surprise Avery when the proposal was over. For the rest of the weekend, we were able to spend time with family getting coffee and playing ping pong and pickle-ball.
