FAQs

The Wedding Website of Ashley Varghese and Jonathan Thomas
Answers to common questions about our wedding week.
Question

What time should I arrive in Mexico City?

Answer

We recommend arriving by Thursday afternoon to settle in before the Welcome Celebration and wedding weekend festivities.

Question

What airport should I fly into?

Answer

We recommend flying into Benito Juárez International Airport (MEX). The airport is approximately 30 minutes from Sofitel Mexico City Reforma, depending on traffic. Ride-share services such as Uber are widely available and safe to use throughout the city - guests arriving around the same time may also wish to coordinate transportation together.

Question

Is Uber safe in Mexico City?

Answer

Yes! Uber is widely used in Mexico City and is generally the easiest and safest way to get around. We recommend downloading Uber before your trip. Walking is also very easy in neighborhoods such as Roma, Condesa, and Polanco.

Question

Will transportation be provided?

Answer

Transportation will be provided to and from wedding events exclusively from Sofitel Mexico City Reforma. Additional transportation details and timing will be shared closer to the wedding weekend.

Question

Can I stay at another hotel or Airbnb?

Answer

Absolutely. Guests are welcome to stay wherever is most comfortable for them. Please note that transportation to wedding events will be provided exclusively from Sofitel Mexico City Reforma.

Question

What weather should I expect?

Answer

Mexico City in early October is typically mild and pleasant, with warm afternoons and cooler evenings. We recommend bringing layers for nighttime temperatures and comfortable shoes for walking around the city.

Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

We kindly ask guests to RSVP by August 15, 2026.

Question

Will events be indoors or outdoors?

Answer

Our wedding weekend will include a mix of indoor and outdoor spaces. The Welcome Celebration will take place in an open-air, tented setting, while the ceremony will be held outdoors in a garden courtyard. Portions of the reception will be indoors. We recommend dressing accordingly and choosing comfortable footwear for walking on stone and garden surfaces.

Question

Is the water safe to drink?

Answer

We recommend drinking filtered or bottled water during your stay, as visitors may not be accustomed to the local water.

Question

What currency is used in Mexico City?

Answer

The local currency is the Mexican Peso (MXN). Most restaurants, hotels, and shops accept credit cards, though having some cash on hand can be helpful for smaller purchases.

Question

Is it safe to travel to Mexico City?

Answer

Mexico City is a vibrant, international city with many well-traveled neighborhoods. We’re planning the weekend with guest comfort, safety, and ease in mind, and will share additional recommendations closer to the wedding.

Question

Do I need a passport or visa to travel to Mexico City?

Answer

All international guests will need a valid passport to travel to Mexico. We recommend passports be valid for at least 6 months beyond your travel dates. United States, Sweden, Australia, and Hungary passport holders do not need a visa for tourist travel to Mexico. India passport holders may need a visa unless they hold a valid U.S., Schengen, UK, Canada, or Japan visa.

Question

Do you have a registry?

Answer

Your presence at our wedding is the greatest gift. We kindly ask for no physical gifts. For those who have asked about celebrating with a gift, contributions toward our future together are deeply appreciated.
